Empty Body, Empty Mind
Saturday 7th October 2017
Time: 10.30am - 4pm
Venue: Walton Village Hall, Green Gore Lane, ST17 0LD
In the morning session we will be exploring postures, breathing, relaxation and meditation. There will also be time for questions and feedback. The afternoon will begin with a talk on our real nature and questions. We will then continue with a practical session.
In this approach to yoga the emphasis is on working with the energy body. The energy body permeates and surrounds the physical body; it gives it life. When we experience the body as energy, as vibration, it dissolves the feeling of solidity and we experience ourselves without border, without centre, completely open to space.
However, because of neuro-muscular tensions we rarely experience ourselves in this way. It is only through listening to the body and deep relaxation can the energy body come alive and be felt. When we practise asanas only on the physical level we are merely reinforcing the patterns in our body. Working with the energy body, and staying with the sensation moment to moment, the muscles, and the whole body structure, work in a completely different way.
Experiencing the primal body in this way we have a feeling of emptiness and spaciousness. It helps us to be free of being fixed in the head, and brings the mind to quietness. The feeling of emptiness gives us a glimpse of our real nature, of that which is beyond the mind.
